Getting Started

Well I told myself that I would never do a blog, but after trying to remember all the family and friends I needed to email and send letters too, I found my self telling multiple people the same things. Therefore I thought this would be an easy way that I could share all my adventures and daily life stories with all of you. I promise to still email and send things, but this will be updated daily or weekly.

So last Wednesday I left Minnesota for a long day of travel. I took a direct flight from Minneapolis to Amsterdam. On that flight was on of my friend's aunts. She was one of my flight attendants which made the flight so much easier. From Amsterdam to Milan it was a short flight but I was getting sick of flying. It was from Milan that we took a 5 hour bus ride to Florence.  We finally arrived in Florence at about 5 pm. By that time I was tired and needed food. I was not able to sleep on any of my flights/bus ride so I was anxious to get settled and relax. I made it to my apartment at about 7 to meet the rest of my roommates. My apartment is nice and big. It is a 20 min walk out of the city (which is nice since they don't have gyms here...or at least that I have found yet). We have two bedrooms and 2 baths with a living room and kitchen. Things are going well with my roommates. I share a room with Laura and she is awesome.

As for the food goes, things are a little rocky. Because I don't speak or read the language it is hard for me to decipher ingredients. I have been mainly sticking to a lot of fruits and veggies, plus eggs. I have also tried gluten free pasta, which to my surprise was pretty good. Last night was the first time I had chicken and it was great!

My classes started yesterday. The only one I had was Italian. I am actually really excited for it because I can actually practice the language in my daily life. My teacher speaks in all Italian and it surprisingly is not hard to understand him. Today I had my Italian Life and Culture class. It seems I will learn a lot about the place and society I am living in. Overall, starting classes has been great.

Well I am off to find a cafe to do my homework and drink some tea. The buildings here are sooo cold! Look for more posts probably tomorrow after my long day of class. I start Art History and could not be more excited. I will start posting pictures when I actually take some.

Miss you all!

Hello Molly,

How does it feel to be in one of the most beautiful places on earth? We know that you'll love taking it all in, even if you aren't able to do the same for the food!

We love you,

ULAS
